ASIAN CREATIVE MUSICAL SERIES Ⅳ_Mongol

social enterprise salad (founder & ceo: park kyong ju) has produced one multicultural creative musical series (concept: park kyong ju) every year that introduces asian culture since 2011 with production support from the shinhan bank social contribution fund. the asian cultures introduced through the asian musical series so far are nepal, china, the philippines, mongolia, vietnam, and indonesia, india, and myanmar. over the past seven years, these works have visited national and public institutions across the country, met more than 100,000 audiences, and communicated with korean society to respect each other’s culture and understand differences in a multicultural society in an era of 2 million immigrants. salad is made up of various ethnicities and nationalities. for eight years, the playwright park kyong ju and music composer gil hizon accepted each other’s roles and personal backgrounds while negotiating and collaborating to perfect salad’s own way of expressing multiculturalism.

Through the story of Ara, a Mongolian migrant child, this work solves the problem of migrant children’s right to education from a warm perspective. Ara, a child of Mongolian immigrants, is a Korean who was born in Korea and has lived there for 16 years. Ara, an adolescent girl, falls into a love triangle because of her unrequited love for her boyfriend Yeong-cheol, and finds herself in a dangerous situation where she is forcibly deported to Mongolia, but she escapes with the help of her friends.

This story is reconstructed with the motif of the real story of Bazarakcha Taeyang (14 years old), a child of a Mongolian family. Playwright Park Kyung-joo created a work based on a direct interview with Tae-yang, who was born in Korea and lived there for 13 years before returning to his hometown with his parents in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

본 작품은 몽골 이주아동 아라가 겪는 이야기를 통해 이주아동의 교육권 문제를 따뜻한 시선으로 풀어낸다. 몽골 이주민 자녀 아라는 한국에서 태어나 16년 동안 살아온 한국사람. 사춘기 소녀 아라가 남자친구 영철을 짝사랑하는 미숙 때문에 삼각관계에 빠지고 몽골에 가야 할 위험한 상황에 놓이게 되지만 친구들의 도움으로 위기에서 탈출하게 된다는 해피엔딩 스토리를 담고 있다.

법무부 통계에 따르면 2012년 10월 5일 현재 태양이와 같은 처지의 이주아동·청소년은 약 6천여 명에 이르고, 한국에서 출생하였으나 외국인으로 등록되지 않은 아동·청소년까지 포함하면 1만 명이 훨씬 넘을 것으로 추정되고 있다. ‘유엔(UN) 아동권리협약’은 이주아동의 합법적 체류 여부와 관계없이 건강과 안전을 위한 적극적 조치, 체류자격 부여, 교육권 보장을 권고하고 있다.
